The Oklahoma City Barons have signed Chicago Express defenseman Darcy Campbell to a PTO, Barons General Manager Bill Scott announced today.

Campbell, 6-1 200 pounder from Airdrie, Alberta, is in his fifth professional season, his first with the Express of the ECHL.  Last season he led the Central Hockey League in points by a defenseman (62), tied for the league lead in assists by a defenseman (46) and was second in goals by a defenseman (16). 

Campbell has played in 113 American Hockey League games in his career with the Syracuse Crunch, Lake Erie Monsters and this season with Springfield Falcons. In those games, Campbell has scored 22 points (9-13-22) and served 91 penalty minutes.  He has played in one NHL game with the Columbus Blue Jackets during the 06-07 campaign.

Prior to turning pro, Campbell played three seasons with the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.  In 114 games over those three seasons, he amassed 50 points (11-39-50).  Before playing at the university level, he played two seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, splitting time between the Canmore Eagles and Olds Grizzlys. 

The Barons are on the road for the rest of this week.  Wednesday evening, they take on the Lake Erie Monsters in Cleveland at 6 p.m. (ct)  Friday, they visit the Toronto Marlies at 6 p.m. (ct)  They wrap up their trip against the Hamilton Bulldogs Sunday at 2 p.m. (ct).
