The Oklahoma City Barons are teaming with Chesapeake Energy and the Salvation Army to collect coats for Oklahomans who are in need.

Barons fans can help in many ways prior to the game February 3.  The Salvation Army will be set up at entrances around the Cox Convention Center to collect coats for the Winter Coat Drive.  In addition, the Salvation Army bell-ringing corps will be out in full force to collect donations for their general fund.  Lastly, fans can donate $10 by texting the word “GIVE” to 80888.

Fans who bring a new or gently worn winter coat to the game for donation to Salvation Army will earn a $4 discount on a ticket for a future game.

Chesapeake Energy is a supporter and community partner with The Salvation Army Central Oklahoma Area Command. In addition to supporting the mission, programs and events that The Salvation Army is involved with, Chesapeake Energy also provided the lead gift for The Salvation Army Central Oklahoma Capital Campaign, helping to build the Chesapeake Energy Salvation Army Center of Hope, slated to open in 2014 at a new campus at NW 10th and Pennsylvania.

Chesapeake Energy is also a supporter of the Oklahoma City Barons as their Founding Partner.  In November, Chesapeake Energy partnered with the Barons for their annual Teddy Bear Toss.  Barons fans came through with over 3,500 stuffed animals for donation.

The Barons return to regular season action Thursday when they host the San Antonio Rampage.  Friday, they host the Charlotte Checkers.  Faceoff for both games is 7 p.m. at the Cox Convention Center.  Both games can be heard on the Barons flagship station, 96.1 KXY.
