The Oklahoma City Barons have signed Wichita Thunder defenseman Andrew Martens to a PTO, Barons General Manager Bill Scott announced today.

Martens, 6-1 205 pounder from Friendswood, Texas, is in his seventh professional season, his second with the Thunder.

Earlier today, he was named a starter for the 2012 Central Hockey League All Star Game. He leads all CHL defensemen with 23 points and is CHL leader with a plus-minus of +20.  Martens was also named the 2011 CHL Defenseman of the Year.
Martens has played in 28 American Hockey League games in his professional career with the Manitoba Moose, Toronto Marlies and Lake Erie Monsters. In those games, Martens has scored two goals and recorded 10 assists.

The Barons host the Rochester Americans tonight and the San Antonio Rampage Saturday for New Years Eve.  Both games start at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at or at the Cox Convention Center Box Office.
