Ice Rink Events and the Myriad Botanical Gardens Trust will welcome the Barons noon to 7 p.m. on February 4.  The public is invited to skate with the members of the Barons, the Ice Girls and their mascot Derrick during that time.  Admission to skate is $10 if you need to rent skates, $7 if you bring your own skates.  A portion of the proceeds will benefit the “Barons Buddies” program with Special Olympics Oklahoma.

Barons Players Participating in the event are:

Hunter Tremblay & Tanner House  noon - 1 p.m.
Andrew Lord & Kirill Tulupov   1 - 2 p.m.

Special Olympics Oklahoma is one of the Barons primary community initiatives each season.  The Barons instituted a plan called “Barons Buddies” that allows a player on the Barons roster to adopt a Special Olympics athlete and their family for the season.  The players, athletes and their families meet for three activities and attend one game during the season.

The Devon Rink is a man-made, outdoor rink is set up in an area on the east side of the Myriad Botanical Gardens near Robinson Ave. across from the Cox Convention Center.  The 60-foot by 100-foot rink is open from noon to midnight daily.  The rink will close for the season on February 5.

The Barons return to regular season action Thursday when they host the San Antonio Rampage.  Friday, they host the Charlotte Checkers.  Faceoff for both games is 7 p.m. at the Cox Convention Center.  Both games can be heard on the Barons flagship station, 96.1 KXY.
