The Edmonton Oilers recalled centerman Chris VandeVelde, Oilers General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today.

VandeVelde, a 6-2, 204-pounder from Moorhead, Minn. has appeared in 65 games with the Barons this season, scoring 22 points (7-15-22).  The Oilers fourth round selection (97th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft has played 132 games with the Barons over the last two seasons, scroing 38 points (19-19-38).

This is his first recall by the Oilers this season.  Last season, he played in 12 games with the Edmonton where he registered two assists.  The Oilers next game is Sunday afternoon against the Columbus Blue Jackets at 2 p.m. (ct).

The Barons skate tonight and tomorrow against the Grand Rapids Griffins, AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings. Faceoff Saturday is 7 p.m., while faceoff Sunday is 4 p.m.  Both games will be played at the Cox Convention Center. The games can be heard on the Barons flagship station, 96.1 KXY.
