OILERS ASSIGN ROY AND ABNEY TO STOCKTON

The Edmonton Oilers announced today that goaltender Olivier Roy and right winger Cameron Abney have been assigned to Stockton of the East Coast Hockey League.

Abney, a 6-5, 205-pounder from Aldergrove, B.C. was the Oilers 3rd round selection (82nd overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.  He has played the last four seasons in the Western Hockey League, splitting time between the Everett Silvertips and Edmonton Oil Kings.  In 176 games over those four seasons, he recorded 37 points (14-23-37) and served 298 penalty minutes.

The 133rd overall pick in 2009, net minder Olivier Roy was
the top ranked Quebec Major Junior Hockey League goalie prospect in 2008-09, Roy posted a 3.04 goals-against average and a .906 save-percentage in 54 games.
