The Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League signed left wing Triston Grant to a tryout agreement, general manager Bill Scott announced today.

Grant, a 6-2, 212-pounder from
Neepawa, Man. skated last season with the Rochester Americans, registering 13 points (7-6-13) and serving 144 penalty minutes in 56 games played. Grant has played the majority of his career in the AHL, splitting time between the Philadelphia Phantoms, Milwaukee Admirals and Rochester.  In 382 games over six seasons, he has recorded 86 points (39-47-86) and served 1103 penalty minutes.  His best season as a pro was the 09-10 season with Milwaukee when he recorded career highs in games played (74), goals (12), assists (13), points (25) and penalty minutes (236).

Originally a 9th round draft choice of the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Grant has played in 11 NHL games, registering one point and 19 penalty minutes.  He last played in the NHL with
Nashville during the 2009-10 season.

Prior to turning pro, Grant played five seasons in the Western Hockey League, splitting time between the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Vancouver Giants.  In 291 games over those seasons, he scored 87 points (52-35-87) and served 898 penalty minutes.

The Barons home opener is just 14 days away.

NOTE:  The Barons released six players from their training camp roster.  Those players include Tyler Shelast, Matt Robinson, Matt Germain, Kyle Paige, Dan Ringwald and Jeff Caister.  They are returning to their teams in either the Central Hockey League or ECHL.
