By Josh Evans, OKC Barons

A member of the Oklahoma City Barons celebrated a milestone Saturday night when the team took the ice against the Charlotte Checkers.

Barons head equipment manager Matt Mitchell worked in his 1,500th game with a professional hockey team. A 20-year veteran of professional hockey, Matt began his career with the Binghamton Rangers. During his tenure, he has worked with the New York Rangers, New Mexico Scorpions, San Diego Gulls, Lowell Devils, New Jersey Devils and the Barons.

“We are very proud and honored to have Matt on our Barons staff. He is a consummate professional and a perfectionist in all that he does. Matt’s tireless efforts and veteran experience is a significant component to the success of our team. We congratulate Matt and his family on this terrific achievement.”

Mitchell and the Barons return home from Charlotte to prepare for a four-game road trip that starts in Peoria next Friday. Other stops on the road trip include Grand Rapids and Chicago. The trip concludes in Peoria on March 7.
