The Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League signed defenseman Kevin Montgomery to an AHL contract, general manager Bill Scott announced today.

Montogmery, a 6-2, 188-pounder from
Rochester, New York, was acquired by the Barons in  a trade last season with the Lake Erie Monsters.  In 67 games between the two clubs, he recorded 26 points (4-22-26) and served 46 penalty minutes.  Originally drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the 4th round (110th overall) in the 2006 NHL Draft, Montgomery has appeared in 142 games as a pro, scoring 34 points (5-29-34).

Prior to turning pro,
Montgomery played two-plus seasons with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League.  With the Knights, he played 140 games, registering 96 points (12-84-96) and serving 186 penalty minutes.

We are very excited to bring Kevin back to Oklahoma City," said Scott.  “We liked the way he played for us last season after being acquired at the trade deadline and know that he can step into our lineup immediately and play in all situations.”

The Barons home opener is just three days away.
Oklahoma City opens the season October 15 at the Cox Convention Center against the Texas Stars at 7 p.m.  All fans who attend the game Saturday night will receive a pink t-shirt from the Barons and Mercy Hospital to raise awareness for breast cancer research.
