The Oklahoma City Barons signed centerman Joel Broda to a Professional Tryout (PTO), General Manager Bill Scott announced today.

Broda, a 6-0, 203-pounder from Prince Albert, Sask., attended training camp with the Barons before being released and signing with the Barons ECHL affiliate in Bakersfield, Calif. The 23-year old has appeared in 159 games as a professional with the Houston Aeros of the AHL and the Orlando Solar Bears and Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL. 

Originally a 5th round draft choice (144th overall) of the Washington Capitals in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Broda played 330 games in the Western Hockey League with Tri City, Moose Jaw and Calgary before turning pro.

The Barons are at home for three games this week, beginning tomorrow night against the Texas Stars.   Friday and Saturday, they host the Abbotsford Heat. All three games are played at the Cox Convention Center at 7 p.m. 

Tuesday is the first Winning Weekday of the season. Should the Barons down the Texas Stars, everyone in attendance earns a ticket to the next weekday home game. Friday night is Barons night with $2 draft beer and $1 hot dogs from 6 – 8 p.m. Saturday, one lucky fan drives away in a brand new vehicle in the Drive Away Every Saturday promotion.
