BARONS CLINCH A SPOT IN THE CALDER CUP PLAYOFFS

By Josh Evans, OKC Barons

The Oklahoma City Barons clinched a playoff spot Friday evening with their 3-2 win over the Milwaukee Admirals.  The trip to the postseason is the team’s second straight to the Calder Cup playoffs.

The Oklahoma City Barons record of 42-18-4-5 surpasses their win and point totals from the 2010-11 season.  Should the Barons earn a standing point tomorrow night against Grand Rapids or the San Antonio Rampage lose to Rockford, the Barons will secure the Western Division regular season crown.  Currently, the Barons own an eight-point lead over the Toronto Marlies for the top spot in the Western Conference.  Oklahoma City is the first team in the Western Conference to secure a playoff berth.

Playoff tickets for the Barons home playoff games will go on sale Monday morning by calling the Barons office at 232-GOAL.  The Barons playoff schedule will be released pending the outcome of all the seeding in the Western Conference.

Oklahoma City finishes their road trip tomorrow night when they tangle with the Grand Rapids Griffins, AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings at 6 p.m.  The game can be heard on the Barons flagship station, 96.1 KXY.
