OILERS ASSIGN CAMERON ABNEY TO OKC

The Edmonton Oilers assigned forward Cameron Abney to the Oklahoma City Barons, Barons General Manager Bill Scott announced today.

Abney, a 6-5, 205-pounder from Aldergrove, B.C., has played in 12 games with the Barons this season, serving 24 penalty minutes.  The Oilers 3rd round choice (82nd overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, has played 28 games with the Stockton Thunder of the ECHL, registering five points (2-3-5) and 117 penalty minutes. 

Prior to turning pro, he played 180 games in the Western Hockey League with the Everett Silvertips and Edmonton Oil Kings. In those games, he recorded 37 points (14-23-37) and served 298 penalty minutes.

Oklahoma City skates in three games this weekend, all on the road.  Friday and Saturday, the Barons take on the Texas Stars, AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars.  Faceoff Friday night is 7:30 p.m. while Saturday’s contest starts at 7 p.m. Sunday, the Barons take on the Houston Aeros, AHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild at 5:05 p.m.  All three games can be heard on the Barons flagship station, 96.1 KXY.
