EDMONTON REASSIGNS ABNEY TO STOCKTON
By Josh Evans, OKC BaronsThe Edmonton Oilers re-assigned forward Cameron Abney to the Stockton Thunder, Barons General Manager Bill Scott announced today.
Abney, a 6-5, 205-pounder from Aldergrove, B.C., has played in 12 games with the Barons this season, serving 24 penalty minutes. The Oilers 3rd round choice (82nd overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, has played 28 games with the Stockton Thunder of the ECHL, registering five points (2-3-5) and 117 penalty minutes.
Prior to turning pro, he played 180 games in the Western Hockey League with the Everett Silvertips and Edmonton Oil Kings. In those games, he recorded 37 points (14-23-37) and served 298 penalty minutes.
The Barons skate in three games this weekend, beginning Friday night when the Barons host the Texas Stars, AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars. Saturday and Sunday the Barons host the Grand Rapids Griffins, AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings. Faceoff Saturday is 7 p.m., while faceoff Sunday is 4 p.m.
All three games will be played at the Cox Convention Center. The games can be heard on the Barons flagship station, 96.1 KXY.
