The Edmonton Oilers have assigned defenseman Alex Plante to the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League, the team’s front office announced today.

Plante, 22, was recalled on December 26 and played one game before suffering a concussion. In three games this season with the Oilers he has recorded one assist.

The 6’4”, 225-pound Brandon, Manitoba native has played in 28 games with the Barons scoring a goal and adding 10 assists along with 63 penalty minutes.

He was selected to the 2012 AHL Western Conference All Star team.

Plante was selected by Edmonton in the 1st round, 15th overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Oklahoma City is on the road to play in Rochester on Thursday and Friday and Lake Erie on Saturday. OKC returns home to host Houston on January 27 and Texas on January 28. Tickets can be purchased online at or at the Cox Convention Center Box Office.
