BARONS DOWN BULLDOGS, 3-0

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City Barons returned home to the Cox Convention Center Tuesday evening where a strong defensive effort led to a 3-0 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs. The Barons (43-19-4-5) moved six points ahead of Toronto for the Western Conference lead after capturing the West Division title over the weekend. The Bulldogs (32-22-2-5) were stumped by Barons goaltender David LeNeveu turned in his second shutout of the year. LeNeveu’s performance gives Oklahoma City seven shutouts on the year as a team.
Antti Tryvainen extended his streak to five points in the last four games with his sixth goal of the year at the 3:22 mark of the second period. The birthday boy got a short-handed chance early in the period to snipe his sixth goal of the year.
Oklahoma City out-shot the Bulldogs 14-7 in the second period to take a 26-16 lead in shots on goal at the second intermission.
Hunter Tremblay added his 15th of the year at 8:36 in the third as he was able to chip the puck up and over Peter Delmas’ right shoulder. Mark Arcobello and Tyler Pitlick picked up the assists as the home team took a 2-0 lead.
Ryan Keller added an empty net goal with assists from Josh Green and Magnus Paajarvi at 19:44 to secure the 3-0 win.
The Bulldogs closed the shots advantage to five as Oklahoma City led 35-30 when the final horn sounded.
The Barons continue the final four-game homestand this weekend. Oklahoma City faces Peoria Friday, April 6, at 7 p.m. CT and Chicago on Saturday, April 7, at 7 p.m. CT.
