The Texas Stars out-shot the Oklahoma City Barons 16-3 in the third period and overtime of Friday's pre-season opener and received the winning goal by Mike Hedden on a ricochet 58 seconds into sudden death for a 3-2 win over the Barons at Cedar Park Center.

Oklahoma City took a 2-1 lead into the third, but the Stars tied the score on a goal by Taylor Vause with six minutes left in the pre-season opener for both teams.

Texas out-shot Oklahoma City 44-28 for the game.

Barons center hopeful Joel Broda tallied the only goal of the first period, lifting a wrist shot from the mid-slot over the glove side of Texas goalie Jack Campbell 5:38 after the opening faceoff. Campbell went the distance, stopping 26 of 28 shots.

The teams traded goals the second period, with Texas tying the score on a goal by Taylor Peters on a rush at 8:25. The Barons regained a 2-1 lead when rookie defenseman Martin Gernat fired home a point shot during a delayed Texas penalty at 12:57. Oklahoma City starter Olivier Roy played the first 29:09, stopping 19 of 20 shots. Tyler Bunz finished up, stopping 22 of 24 shot in the loss.

The Barons conclude the pre-season with a 5 pm (CDT) game on Saturday against the San Antonio Rampage at Cedar Park Center. The regular season opener is Friday, Oct. 4 against Charlotte at the Cox Center at 7 pm CDT.
