BARONS OPEN TRIP WITH 6-4 WIN

By Jim Byers,

The Oklahoma City Barons matched their season high with four second-period goals in rallying for a 6-4 win over the Texas Stars on Wednesday at Cedar Park Center near Austin, Texas, to open a 7-game road trip.

Oklahoma City improves to 9-5-1-1 in setting its season high for goals in a game. The Barons have won three straight while Texas had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Teemu Hartikainen, Toni Rajala (his first AHL goal in his league debut), Justin Schultz and Taylor Hall scored for the Barons in the second after Oklahoma City trailed 3-1 at the first intermission.

Jordan Eberle opened the scoring for the Barons at 1:47 of the first period, only to have Texas (6-7-0-1) answer with tallies by Cam Barker, Colton Sceviour and Jordie Benn.

The Barons, up 5-3 after two periods, traded goals with the Stars in the third. Antoine Roussel scored the Stars' second short-handed goal of the game (Sceviour had the other) to make it 5-4 before Martin Marincin provided the insurance on the power play at 18:32.

Yann Danis made 23 saves on 27 shots in winning his third straight to improve to 7-4-1. Cristopher Nilstorp stopped 28 of 34 in dropping to 4-5-0.

The Barons visit the Charlotte Checkers on Saturday for the first of consecutive games at Time Warner Cable Arena. Saturday's opening faceoff is at 6 pm CST.
