By Cassie Gage, OKC Barons on 11/19/2010

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City Barons returned to action Friday evening at the Cox Convention Center and forced a shootout with the Texas Stars, but were unable to come up with the win as Texas prevailed 2-1. Texas starting goaltender Richard Bachman pushed away 35 shots as the Stars moved to 9-6-0-0 on the year. The Barons (10-6-1-1) got strong goaltending performance from Jeff Deslauriers as the netminder made 34 saves on the night.

Texas added the game’s first goal on just its second shot on goal of the night. Travis Morin put the puck behind Deslauriers on a power play to give the Stars a 1-0 lead in the first period. The Barons put the equalizer in the net at the 2:38 mark of the second period. Teemu Hartikainen put a centering pass from Linus Omark behind Bachman to even the score at 1-1. Joey Ryan was credited with the second assist on the goal.

The Stars had the opportunity to take the lead on a penalty shot in the third period by Colton Scevious but Deslauriers denied the goal to keep the score 1-1 more than halfway through the period. The Barons had chances to win the game late in the period but were unable to convert as the game went to overtime.

Oklahoma City got a 4-on-3 power play during the period but neither team was able to find the back of the net as the two teams went to a shootout. Hartikainen and Tomas Vincour each scored in the third round of the shootout but it was Aaron Gagnon’s goal that gave Texas the 2-1 win.

The Barons continue the current eight-game homestand Sunday afternoon against the Milwaukee Admirals. Game time is set for 5:05 CT from the Cox Convention Center.
