BARONS RECALL ABNEY FROM STOCKTON

The Oklahoma City Barons recalled forward Cam Abney from the Stockton Thunder, Barons General Manager Bill Scott announced today.

Abney, a 6-5, 205-pounder from Aldergrove, B.C., has played in 24 games with Stockton, scoring five points (2-3-5) and serving 124 penalty minutes. The Oilers 3rd round choice (82nd overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, played two games with Oklahoma City in early December.  Abney attended training camp with the Barons and played in the Barons preseason game against Houston. Prior to turning pro, he played 180 games in the Western Hockey League with the Everett Silvertips and Edmonton Oil Kings. In those games, he recorded 37 points (14-23-37) and served 298 penalty minutes.

The Barons return to action tonight on the road against the Houston Aeros at 5 p.m. The game can be heard on AM 1000 KTOK, online at Sportsjuice.com and on a pay-per-view basis on AHLlive.com.

NOTE:  A win by the Barons tonight will give head coach Todd Nelson the nod for the coach of the Western Conference for the upcoming AHL All Star Classic.  The 2012 AHL All Star Classic will be held January 29 – 30 in Atlantic City, N.J.
