BARONS WIN FOURTH STRAIGHT ROAD GAME; DOWN PEORIA 3-1

By Jim Byers,

The Oklahoma City Barons downed the Peoria Rivermen 3-1 Saturday night in Peoria.  The win was their fourth straight overall.

Peoria jumped on the board with a power-play goal just 2:45 into the contest.  The Barons wouldn’t answer until Matt Marquardt tied the game 8:59 into the second.

Linus Omark scored what proved to be the game-winner 1:31 into the final frame on a feed from Ryan O’Marra.  Brad Moran would add an empty-netter with 15 seconds to play in the game.

Goaltender Martin Gerber stopped 17 of 18 shots to improve his record to 6-4-1 on the season.  The Barons finished their eight-day, five-game road trip with a 4-1-0.

After playing five straight on the road, the Barons return home to play eight straight at the Cox Convention Center beginning Friday against the Texas Stars, the AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars.  Faceoff is at the Cox Convention Center at 7:05 p.m.
