BARONS SIGN RYAN LOWERY
By Josh Evans, OKC BaronsThe Oklahoma City Barons signed defenseman Ryan Lowery to an AHL contract, Barons general manager Bill Scott announced today.
Lowery, a 5-11, 189-pounder from Inverness, Ill., recently completed a four-year career at Colorado College. With the Tigers, he recorded 46 points (7-39-46) and served 152 penalty minutes in 152 games. His last two seasons were his most productive. He scored 35 of his 46 points in his final two seasons with the Tigers. Prior to skating at the university level, Lowery played with the Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League. In 22 games over two seasons with Lincoln, he recorded seven points and served 31 penalty minutes.
“Ryan is a player our organization really liked in college and we were excited to have him come to Rookie Camp and Training Camp in Edmonton,” said Scott. “We are pleased that Ryan has signed with our organization as we believe he will be an important part of our team this season. He is a smooth-skating defenseman who is responsible in his own end and can provide us with some offense from the blueline.”
Lowery joins defenseman Bryan Helmer, forward Andrew Lord and goaltender David LeNeveu as players signed by the Barons. The Barons open their training camp Monday at the Cox Convention Center at 10 a.m. The on-ice sessions are open to the public and free to attend.
The Barons home opener is just 22 days away. Oklahoma City opens the season October 15 at the Cox Convention Center against the Texas Stars at 7 p.m. The Barons offer a range of ticketing options from full Season Seat packages, 21-game packages, 11-game and seven-game packs.
