CORNET AND PLANTE NAMED STARTERS FOR AHL ALL STAR CLASSIC

Oklahoma City Barons forward Philippe Cornet and defenseman Alex Plante were named starters for the 2012 AHL All Star Classic, the league’s front office announced today.

Cornet, a 6-0, 200-pounder from Val Senneville, PQ is in his second season with the Barons.  He currently leads the Barons in goals with 20, which is good for a tie for 6th in the league.  His 25 points is good for second on the club.

Plante, a 6-3, 225-pounder from Brandon, Manitoba has 11 points (1-10-11) on the season and is second on the team in +/- rating at +13.

The starters for the AHL All Star Classic were determined by the fan voting.  One lucky person will win a 2012 AHL All Star Classic jersey autographed by the teams.

The Barons are on the home for two games this weekend. Friday, the Barons host the Houston Aeros, AHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild. Saturday, the Barons host the Texas Stars, AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars. Faceoff is slated for 7 p.m. at the Cox Convention Center. Both games can be heard on the Barons flagship station, 96.1 KXY.
