Richard Bachman stopped 32 of 33 shots as the Oklahoma City Barons downed the Milwaukee Admirals 2-1 Saturday night at the Cox Convention Center.

The lone goal Bachman surrendered came in the second period, when Scott Valentine let a slap shot go from the point that was tipped by Michael Liambas and rattled between the posts before settling in the back of the Barons net at 17:25 in the period.

In the third period, Bachman turned away nine Milwaukee attempts and fended off a barrage of shots in the game’s final minutes to preserve Oklahoma City’s 2-1 lead during a 6-on-4 Milwaukee power play created by a late hooking penalty to Brandon Davidson and the pulling of Admirals goalie Marek Mazanec.

The Barons opened the scoring late in the first period when Will Acton received a Matthew Ford pass in the Milwaukee zone and, after some nice stickhandling, flipped the puck past Admirals goaltender Marek Mazanec for a 1-0 lead at 16:26.

Oklahoma City added to their early lead after Milwaukee winger Michael Liambas was whistled for goaltender interference at 17:38. On the power play, Brad Hunt received a Taylor Fedun pass near the point and unleashed a slap shot that found its way past Mazanec and into the back of the Admirals net at 17:56.

Liambas’ goal in the second period cut the Barons lead to 2-1.

With Saturday’s win, the Barons ended a three-game losing streak and improved to 16-20-1-5, while the Admirals dropped to 18-13-5-2.

The Barons and Admirals meet again Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm at the Cox Convention Center as part of Family Fun Day, with $1 hotdogs and $1 soft drinks.  In addition, the first 500 kids receive an Oklahoma City Barons puzzle.
