ALUMNI REPORT - SEPTEMBER 24

By Josh Evans, OKC Barons

Only two players with ties to the Oklahoma City Barons skated in the Oilers 2-1 win over Calgary last night in Edmonton.  However, one had a big impact on the game.

Teemu Hartikainen earned the #1 star of the game, despite not figuring in the scoring.  He skated on a line with the Oilers #1 draft choices of the last two seasons, Taylor Hall and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.  Hartikainen recorded three shots on goal and played just over 17 minutes of the game.

Defenseman Jeff Petry also played in the game.  He recorded one shot on goal and was a +
1 in nearly 21 minutes of ice time.  His 20:32 of ice time was second on the team only to Tom Gilbert’s 22:32.

Goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin stopped 16 of the 17 shots he faced for the win.

Round 2 of the preseason
Battle for Alberta is tomorrow night at the Scotiabank Saddledome at 7 p.m. (ct).

The Barons open their training
camp Monday morning at the Cox Convention Center at 10 a.m.  The sessions are open to the public and free of charge.
