PLANTE ASSIGNED TO OKLAHOMA CITY

The Edmonton Oilers assigned defenseman Alex Plante to the Oklahoma City Barons, Oilers general manager Steve Tambellini announced today.

Plante, a 6-4, 230-pounder from Brandon, Manitoba was recalled yesterday and played in the Oilers 4-2 win over the St. Louis Blues.  He skated in just over 12 minutes of the game and had an assist.  Prior to his recall, he had played in eight of the Barons games this season recording one assist and a serving a team-high 35 penalty minutes. The Oilers 1st round draft choice (15th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft has appeared in eight NHL games, recording two assists and serving 11 penalty minutes.

The Barons return to practice tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the Cox Convention Center.  Wednesday morning, the team will then depart for a pair of games in Abbotsford, B.C. this Thursday and Saturday.  Faceoff is set for 9 p.m. (ct) against the Heat, the AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames.
