OILERS DROP CANUCKS, 5-2

The Edmonton Oilers continued preseason action Saturday evening with a 5-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks at Rexall Place. Oklahoma City connection Taylor Fedun had two assists in the win.
Vancouver took an early 1-0 lead just 1:20 into the game, and the Oilers rallied to tie the game on a Sam Gagner power play goal at 12:59. Edmonton took the 2-1 lead in the second when Fedun and Ryan Hamilton’s rush into the Vancouver zone shorthanded netted David Perron the go-ahead goal at 4:13.
Ryan Smyth stretched that lead out to 3-1 late in the third before Vancouver drew to within one. Nail Yakupov and Will Acton added the final two goals of the night to secure the 5-2 win.
Fedun ended the night with the two assists and a plus-three.
The Oilers continue preseason action Monday evening with a home game against the Winnipeg Jets. The puck drops at 8:30 p.m. CT. Edmonton closes out preseason action Friday, Sept. 27 against the Dallas Stars in the NHL Showcase presented by Mercy in Oklahoma City.
