CANUCKS TOP OILERS 5-2 IN YOUNG STARS FINALE

The Edmonton Oilers Rookies closed out the Young Stars Classic with a 5-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks Rookies on Sunday evening at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton, British Columbia. Four players with ties to the Oklahoma City Barons played in the tournament finally: defensemen Joey Leach and Brandon Davidson and forwards Cameron Abney and Austin Fyten.
Fyten picked up an assist on Marco Roy’s goal at 1:30 of the 2nd period to put the Oilers up 1-0. Fyten also registered one shot on net and finished the game -1.
Leach assisted on the Oilers second goal of the game from Kyle Platzer at 3:33 of the 2nd period. Leach finished the game with 2 shots on net and a +1 plus/minus.
The Oilers Rookies will play in an exhibition game against the University of Alberta on Tuesday, September 10, at 8 p.m. CST.
