The Houston Aeros snapped the Oklahoma City Barons five-game winning streak with a 4-2 win last night.

Aeros forward Jarod Palmer led the way with three points (1-2-3), while Carson McMillan, Robbie Earl and Brock McBride also chipped in goals.

McBride opened the scoring converting on a breakaway at the 5:35 mark of the first.  Palmer led McBride through the neutral zone with a pass clearing him of the Barons defense.  McMillan scored at 15:17 to extend the Aeros lead to 2-0 with just under five minutes to play in the first.

The Barons cut the Aeros lead in half at 16:42 of the second.  Brad Moran won a faceoff cleanly to Alex Giroux who fed it to Alex Plante at the right point position.  Plante fired the puck that beat a partially-screened Aeros netminder Anton Khudobin.

Houston would put the out of reach in the third.  Just 36 seconds into the frame, Palmer notched his first of the year converting the rebound of a Jean-Michel Daoust shot.  Robbie Earl extended the Aeros’ lead to three with his third of the season at 9:36 of the third.

Barons forward Ben Ondrus would add a late goal at 17:26 of the third.  The Barons would pull Deslauriers in favor of an extra attacker with nearly 90 seconds to play, but were unable to convert.

Deslauriers, recently assigned to Oklahoma City from Edmonton, was making his first start of the 2010-11 season.  He stopped 19 of the 23 shots he faced in the loss.

Oklahoma City wastes no time in getting back on the ice as they host the Toronto Marlies tomorrow at 5:05 p.m. at the Cox Convention Center.

Following the game, fans are invited to stay and skate on the Cox Convention Center ice.  Five of the Barons players will join them for the 45-minute session.  Fans may bring their own skates or skates will be provided at no charge.
