The Oklahoma City Barons, American Hockey League affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers will play their first ever Blue/White intersquad game Thursday at the Cox Convention Center at 7:05 p.m.

The Blue/White game will be the first glimpse of several new in-arena and in-game features for the Barons, including the VIP Room, Season Seat Holder lounge and new selections of Barons merchandise.  The intersquad game marks the first time Barons Season Seat Holders will have the opportunity to pick up their ticket booklets.  The game is free of charge and starts at 7:05 p.m.  Select food and beverage options will be made available during the game.

In addition to the game, the chance for Barons Season Seat Holders to pick up their ticket books and the opportunity to see the renovations to the Cox Convention Center, fans will have a chance to meet the new Barons Ice Girls.  The Ice Girls will be an integral part of the game presentation.  A portion of the Ice Girls crew will shovel snow from the ice surface at designated timeouts while others from the crew will assist PA announcer Ben Buckland during the game with off-ice and intermission contests.

In operation since 1936, the AHL continues to serve as the top development league for the players, coaches, managers, executives and broadcasters of all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 85 percent of today’s NHL players are American Hockey League graduates, and for the ninth year in a row, more than 6 million fans attended AHL games across North America.

NOTE:  Yesterday, the Barons reported Joe Piskula reached a tryout agreement with the team.  The defenseman  has opted to review his opportunities within the league and will not be added to the Barons roster.
