ANTON LANDER NAMED TEAM CAPTAIN

The Oklahoma City Barons have named centerman Anton Lander captain for the 2013-14 season, General Manager Bill Scott announced today. Forwards Derek Nesbitt, Matthew Ford and Ben Eager along with defenseman Taylor Fedun were named as alternate captains.

 
Lander, a 6-0, 185-pounder from Sundsvall, Sweden has split time between Oklahoma City and Edmonton. The Oilers 2nd round draft choice (40th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Lander has appeared in 67 games with the Barons and 67 games with the Oilers over the last three seasons. Including four seasons with Timra IK in the Swedish Elite League, the 22-year old Lander has appeared in 311 professional games.

The Barons are on the road for three games this week, beginning Wednesday against the Texas Stars in Cedar Park, Texas. The weekend concludes with a pair of games in San Antonio against the Rampage. Faceoff for the games Wednesday and Friday is 7:30 p.m., while faceoff for Saturday’s contest is 7 p.m. All three games can be heard on the Barons flagship station, 96.1 KXY.
 

NOTE: The Edmonton Oilers recalled forward Ben Eager from the Oklahoma City Barons. Eager has appeared in six games with the Barons this season.
