By Josh Evans, OKC Barons

The Oklahoma City Barons Ice Girls are painting the interior of a Habitat for Humanity home this Saturday, May 11 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Hope Crossing Area. The Ice Girls are participating in the Women Build campaign.

Habitat for Humanity’s Hope Crossing Area is located one mile east of Broadway Extension between Wilshire and Britton Road on Kelley Ave. The address of the home is 8536 Durland.

The National Women Build Week
challenges women from all walks of life to help eliminate poverty housing. Each May, leading up to Mother’s Day, thousands of women volunteers across the nation join in Women Build days at Habitat affiliates. Last weekend, Cindy Lankford, wife of Oklahoma Congressman James Lankford, led the effort to frame the home.

The Barons hockey team opens their best-of-7 Western Conference Semifinal series on May 9 on the road against the Texas Stars. Game 2 of the series is May 11. Faceoff for both games is 7:30 p.m.

The series shifts to Oklahoma City for games 3, 4 & 5 (if necessary). Game 3 is slated for May 13, while Game 4 is May 15. Should a Game 5 be necessary, it will be played May 16. Faceoff for games in Oklahoma City is 7 p.m. at the Cox Convention Center.

The games can be heard on the Barons flagship station, 96.1 KXY and seen online at AHL Live.
