ICE GIRL AUDITION FAQ

WHAT DOES THE BARONS ICE GIRLS DO?
The Barons Ice Girls is an interactive group that represents the Oklahoma City Barons in the community, at weekly games, and at external appearances. They are primarily responsible for making sure our fans have the best experience possible! At games, the team assists with on-ice contests, in arena activities and promotions (t-shirt launch, ticket upgrades, prize giveaways, trivia contest, etc), and is also the group responsible for maintaining the quality of the ice during in-game timeouts. The Ice Girls also represent the OKC Barons organization at various events and appearances throughout the community, such as: charity functions, fan development events, promotional appearances,  and marketing initiatives, etc.

IS BEING A BARONS ICE GIRL A FULL-TIME JOB? WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT THAT I SHOULD EXPECT?
No. Most Barons Ice Girls attend college and/or have other part-time or full-time jobs. However, being a member of the Barons Ice Girls will require a reasonably flexible schedule as well as a commitment to being available for all home games, practices, events, and many outside appearances (most of which will take place during the evenings and weekends). Call time for games is approximately 4:30pm with the exceptions of special games in which you will be asked to arrive earlier.

WHAT ARE THE AGE REQIREMENTS TO AUDITION?
You must be at least 18+ years of age by August 15, 2011. Furthermore, you must also be a high school graduate (or equivalent) to be eligible to audition.

ARE THERE ANY HEIGHT, WEIGHT, OR APPEARANCE REQUIRMENTS?
There are no specific limits on height and/or weight to be a Barons Ice Girls. However, the uniforms/costumes are tight and form fitting. Your hairstyle should be current and complimentary to your features and should not hide your face. Your make-up should be complimenting your natural beauty. Nails should be well manicured and painted with an American/French manicure or a neutral shade of polish. Tattoos larger than 1” in diameter must be completely covered and body piercings should not be visible while in the Ice Girl uniform.

DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SKATE TO AUDITION?
Since one function of the Barons Ice Girls will be to maintain the quality of the ice during timeouts, having a comfortable level of skating ability is recommended but not required. Applicants need not be a professionally trained skater (hockey, figure, etc), and all skating levels from beginner to expert are accepted at auditions.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO AUDITIONS?
You should wear a two-piece outfit consisting of: a plain solid color shirt (white is preferred) with NO logos, no markings, no writing. For example, do not wear your high school all state cheer shirt. Also, a solid color dance/yoga/jazz style pants or leggings. Again, no logos, no markings, no writing.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO THE AUDITION?
·         A current Drivers License, state issued ID card or valid passport
·         Completed application/waiver (click here
·         A 5x7 Photo/Headshot/Comp Card (does not need to be a professional photo – these will NOT be returned)
·         Current resume
·         Water, drinks, and snacks (It will be a long day)

CAN I BRING FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO WATCH THE AUDITIONS?
No, auditions will be closed to public viewing.

WHAT HAPPENS AT AUDITIONS? HOW SOON IS THE TEAM CHOSEN?
Auditions will consist of numerous elements including; interview (1 on 1, group), current events, hockey knowledge, 1 minute segment of entertainment, various ‘how would you handle different situations’, and an on film interview.

WHAT MAKES A GOOD ICE GIRL? WHAT ARE THE JUDGES LOOKING FOR?
First and foremost, Ice Girl members need to represent our team and our organization in the most positive and professional way possible. The judges are looking for all of the following: personality, energy, positive attitude, ability to interact and socialize with fans, teamwork skills, professionalism, poise, strong communication abilities, strong work ethic, talent and much more.

ARE BARONS ICE GIRLS PAID?
Yes, this is a fun, part-time job and the Ice Girls are paid a base rate for all games, events and appearances worked. The rate is comparable to other teams and jobs in the nature.

DOES THE BARONS ICE GIRLS TRAVEL WITH THE TEAM?
No. The Barons Ice Girls only work home games and local events in the greater Oklahoma City area.

DO THE BARONS ICE GIRLS GET TO MEET/HANG OUT WITH THE TEAM/PLAYERS?
No. As with most all other professional promotional teams of this nature across various leagues (AHL, NHL, NBA, NFL) there are very strict rules and regulations prohibiting fraternization with the team, players, coaches, officials, and front-office personnel.

IF I AM A RETURNING BARONS ICE GIRL, DO I NEED TO RE-AUDITION AND RE-APPLY?
Yes. You must always re-audition and re-apply, even if you are a previous Ice Girl.
